Where else would you find the High School Musical gang celebrating Vanessa Hudgens birthday? That's right, Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Hitting the VIP room with friends Brittney Snow and Ashley Tisdale, they celebrated at Pure Nightclub in the hotel. "I've got to have my girlfriends around" she told USMagazine.com.

But her 22nd year is going to be busy. Coming up on March 18th she stars in 'Beastly', a new version of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Then, on March 25th she'll be starring in 'Sucker Punch' - a surrealistic movie about girls locked up in an asylum ready to break out - a total switch for Vanessa!

Right now she is filming 'Journey 2: The Mysterious Island' in Hawaii. Sounds like a pretty good year!

Could it be that HSM4 is out the door? Didn't we think that Sharpay Evans was history? Think again! Ashley Tisdale is back in her role again as Disney has announced an all-new Disney Channel Original Movie, Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure!

The proposed plot is that Sharpay is discovered by a talent scout and heads for Broadway hoping to be discovered and make it to the big time. But, the competition is much tougher than she planned. Vanessa Hudgens chimed in , "Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure is going to be amazing. Kids love Sharpay and I did love Sharpay, too, her costumes and her clothes and everything. It's so much fun, so I'm really glad she’s doing it."

Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure is scheduled to start filming this summer and premiere on Disney Channel next year. No word yet if Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron or any of the rest of the High School Musical cast will make an appearance.

Zap 2 It recently featured an in depth interview with Corbin Bleu revealing his change from being 16 in the orginal HSM to now being on his own in New York City. Now starring in the CW's Beautiful Life, Corbin is playing the role of a musician and struggling model.

In the interview Corbin noted, "He[my character] was a very successful child model. But when it comes to high fashion, he's struggling with work right now. He's also trying to balance his music career, as well as being a DJ. And then of course, just being a person living in New York, it takes a lot. It takes a lot of money to come to New York. So for him, he's trying to get his cash any way he can and he ends up falling in with this very powerful, prominent woman in the industry, who offers him, you know, help, in return for him helping her out.."

Unbelievably it is true. The Spears family has yet another issue to deal with. Jamie Lynn Spears of Zoey 101 fame is now pregnant. The father, Casey Aldridge, has been her boyfriend for years. His mother noted:

Nose Fix for Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale, who starred in both HSM movies and as Maddie Fitzpatrick from the Suite Life, had a procedure done to fix a deviated septum last month. In People Magazine she said she couldn't breath out of one side of her nose and that it was getting progressively worse. Her doctor told her it was deviated by 80%.

Her doctor fixed both the deviation and two tiny fractures on the right nostril. In her interview she said "I didn’t do this because I believe in plastic surgery. I literally almost could not breathe out of the right side of my nose."

Like actresses Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston before, Tisdale, now 22 years old, has joined them to correct a nose problem that was affecting their health as well.

The China Post is reporting that the Disney Channel was top across all youth demographics in Taiwan with the premiere of High School Musical 2. It was the most-watched cable and free air program in its timeslot against among cable kids 4-14 and 10-14 and was the top movie of the day against all channels among cable girls 10-14 and cable individuals 15-24. Being the No. 1 live-action movie in 2007, it defeated theatrical titles such as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Disney Channel's High School Musical 2 made its television premiere in Taiwan on Monday at 7:30 p.m. delivering an average audience of 194,000 viewers (1.03% rating among cable individuals 4+), which represents a massive 269% increase over the average audience High School Musical delivered when it premiered in October 2006.

Originally aired in Mandarin, Disney Channel will broadcast the movie in its original English version on Sunday September 30th. During the broadcast there will also feature a special presentation by popular artist Show Luo, who sings the Mandarin version of "Bet On It". How is it possible to have 17.2 million basic-cable viewers? Just create one of the most popular tween movies ever and watch the momentum soar! High School Musical 2's August 17th premiere drew more than double the 7.7 million viewers for High School Musical in 2006. This broke the existing record of 16.8 million viewers held by CNN's 1993 NAFTA debate.

Two out of every three children aged 6 to 14 watching TV were locked on to HSM2 creating for Disney an absolute cultural phenomenon. Replays of HSM2 the next two nights reached nearly 16 million viewers. Add to that the additions of Hannah Montana, Phineas & Ferb, plus the original HSM put Disney channel at about 72 million viewers. Astonishing!

Now factor in a whopping 982,000 copies of High School Musical 2 soundtrack to those numbers in the last two weeks and the franchise is sitting pretty for the future. Can it hang on without fracturing?

Leading man, Zac Efron, now on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine is starting to up the ante by hinting at bigger roles. With the musical hit Hairspray and the possibility of a Footloose remake in the winds will he pull his HSM roots and head for Hollywood stardom? He hasn't signed the HSM3 contract yet which means his options are open.

Let's hope rising stardom doesn't deflate the High School Musical happy balloon.

Hints at High School Musical 3 Release

High School Musical 2 is truly a monster hit! The Disney musical’s success has grown even more with attractions at the Disney parks and plans for a theatrical third movie. Oddly enough, before HSM2 was released this year it was announced that High School Musical 3 would be promoted to the theaters instead of a made-for-tv movie, and would center around the characters’ adventure in a haunted house. The preliminary title was Haunted High School Musical.

However, TV Guide has announced that the studio's plans for High School Musical 3 have changed. It will still be released in the theaters only the haunted house theme has been removed from the script concept.

High School Musical 3 will be centered on 'the fast-growing 'kids' senior year.' The original goal was to have the release ready by late fall of 2008. Whether the up-and-coming stars can get back together within that time remains to be seen. We all know what happened to the Lizzie McGuire franchise - imploded on demands for money. If Zac and Venessa start chiming for more dollars we might see a big fizzle. Time will tell.

High School Musical 2 premieres on the Disney Channel this August 17 at 8/7c. Disney Interactive has confirmed that High School Musical: Sing It! for the Wii and High School Musical: Makin’ the Cut for the Nintendo DS will be released on August 15. Both games will obviously focus on music aspects and will include songs from the original hit movie as well as the brand new High School Musical 2.

High School Musical: Sing It! for the Wii will feature karaoke-style party modes, where you and your friends can sing together or against each other the words to the songs from the famous Disney Channel Original Movie. Single player mode will take you through the movie’s storyline as you sing the songs yourself. The game will come bundled with a special microphone and will retail for $59.99.

High School Musical: Makin’ the Cut for the Nintendo DS will be a music rhythm game and will come with 12 different songs. The game will also allow you to make your own music videos and send your creations to your friends. The game will retail for $59.99.

Both games are rated “E” for Everyone, and will be available on August 15.

Radio Disney released HSM2's first song from the movie today, "What Time is It?". The song premiered at 8am during the Planet Premiere section of the show. All of the main stars were featured in the song including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman.

Located in the far Southwest corner of Utah the cast and crew of HSM2 have wrapped up filming and headed for post production. With only 3 1/2 months left until the premiere, Disney has it's work cut out for itself getting ready for the onslaught.

Kenny Ortega, the film's director, has promised that the sequel will be as good than the original and he owes that to the fans. The cast was committed to coming back for more in another ultimate teen movie.

Can Sharpay drive a wedge between Troy and Gabriella? Will Troy start to fall for Sharpay? How will the resort's end of season talent show work out?

Just when your ready for HSM2, Disney hinted at a full fledged theatrical release for HSM3! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

The production hit it big right out of the box and hasn't let up since. Here are some of the highlights.

Bopping to the top -- "High School Musical" set audience records when it debuted on The Disney Channel in January 2006, the DVD broke sales records and the soundtrack became last year's top-selling album. More ways to enjoy Troy, Gabriella and their East High friends are in the works.

Disney Channel sequel -- "High School Musical 2," scheduled to premiere in mid-August, is set at a country club during summer vacation. More than 45 million fans worldwide voted in an online poll Jan. 12-31 to determine movie details such as Sharpay's favorite drink or the title of Ryan's summer read.

On stage -- A 60-city tour of the stage version, which debuted in Atlanta earlier this year, will be previewed June 26-July 8 at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. (Groups of 15 or more call 313/871-1132. Individual tickets, $26-$71, go on sale later this month). The tour comes to East Lansing's Wharton Center Oct. 2-7. (Available now as part of a season subscription; individual tickets go on sale later.)

On ice -- "Disney's High School Musical: The Ice Tour" begins Sept. 29 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The tour comes to Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena for performances at 7 p.m. March 21, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. March 22 and 1 p.m. March 23. Stories from East High -- A series of paperback novels by various authors features new adventures for the familiar characters from the movie. "All in this Together: The Unofficial Story of 'High School Musical'" was released last week.

ADULTS CROWDED the waiting room one recent winter day at Disney Channel's headquarters in Burbank. Some paced nervously around the couches and chairs, a few checked watches. There was little talk.

They were ready to audition for roles in this summer's TV movie "High School Musical 2," jobs that would make them instantly recognizable to millions of preteens.

Behind a wooden doorway, Disney Channel executives were working to keep the magic after launching one of the biggest entertainment phenomenons of 2006.

It's not that people aren't watching closely. When Disney posted 10 questions on its Web site last month asking fans to influence what was in the "High School Musical" sequel - things like choosing which dessert Zeke buys for Sharpay and which "Hannah Montana" star should appear in the movie - more than 27 million votes were cast in 20 days.

The success of "High School Musical" vaulted the Disney Channel into a tie with USA for top-rated cable network in prime time last year. The movie's soundtrack sold nearly 4 million copies in the U.S. and was the year's top-selling compact disc, even though you probably never heard songs like "We're All in This Together" unless you were a kid around 12 years

The 8.2 million people who watched the premiere of "Jump In!" in January - starring "High School Musical" heartthrob Corbin Bleu as an aspiring jump rope champion - made it the top-rated TV movie premiere in the network's history.

The Disney Channel's success wasn't sudden. It decided a decade ago to target 'tweens, realizing TV offered little to them. It was like the musical gulf between Barney and Eminem, said Rich Ross, the network's president.

Through trial and error, including a failed mystery series, Disney determined that its audience preferred comedies to dramas.

"Kids are going through a lot today, maybe more than ever," Ross said. "They want to smile and relax and laugh. Laughter is the antidote to a crazy world."

Gary Marsh, the network's entertainment president, believes there are five ingredients to a successful Disney Channel production. It should contain humor, optimism and depict real kids in real-life situations. It should tell an age-appropriate emotional story with situations preteens can relate to. And it should have navigational tools for life that kids can learn from, such as how to deal with a bully.

Many of the Disney shows are aspirational, like "Hannah Montana" and its depiction of a girl living the dream of being a pop star.

There's almost always music in a Disney production, something the kids can sing along to - and buy with their allowance when they hear the songs again on Disney's radio station - that won't send their parents screaming from the room.

"High School Musical" squarely hit all of these targets.

Marsh had been looking to make a full-scale musical, and producer Bill Borden sold his straightforward pitch in a single meeting: think "Grease" meets "Romeo & Juliet," with warring social cliques replacing warring families.

"It was so clear to me the simplicity of the story would stand up with the music," Marsh said.

That story had school basketball star Troy meeting beautiful brain Gabriella on vacation, where they bond over their secret love for singing. When Gabriella transfers to Troy's high school, they want to try out for the school musical together, but each of their friends try to keep them from crossing social barriers.

While the story of competing cliques drew the most attention, Ross believes another aspect of "High School Musical" was just as important: the idea of Troy pushing back against his father's expectations to forge his own path. That's an equally important element of "Jump In!" where Bleu's character jumps rope despite his father pressuring him to be a boxer.

The sequel is sure to be a major part of many kids' summers this year.

The cast and crew who made "High School Musical," the tween sensation of the year, are returning to Utah to film the sequel.

The producers of "High School Musical 2" and officials from the Disney Channel confirmed Friday that the sequel will begin filming in March in St. George and Salt Lake City.

"I'm very excited about it because, among other things, our director again is Kenny Ortega, and Kenny loves Utah," said the sequel's producer, Don Schain, who runs Salt Lake City-based Salty Pictures, which also made the first film.

"I think the crew here is as good as you can get," Schain added. "They played a big part in the success of that movie."

The original film boasted catchy songs and energetic choreography by Emmy winners Ortega and Salt Lake City's Bonnie Story, and told the story of high school jock Troy (Zach Efron) and brainiac Gabriella (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), who join forces to star in the school musical.

The movie garnered two Emmys including one for Schain for Outstanding Children's Program. It also became the highest-rated program for the Disney Channel, and the soundtrack so far is the biggest-selling album this year. The movie, in addition to being a sensation in countries like India and Japan, has spawned theatrical productions and a touring concert.

To boost Utah's chances of getting the sequel made here, the Governor's Office of Economic Development Board (GOED) on Friday offered Salty Pictures a cash incentive of up to $500,000.

"At least 26 other states offer incentives for motion pictures," Schain said. "So it [the $500,000 incentive] helps enormously."

For months while the movie's screenwriter, Peter Barscocchini, worked on the sequel's script, executive producers Barry Rosenbush, Bill Borden and Ortega looked at a number of cities, including San Diego and Palm Springs.

But Aaron Syrett, director of the Utah Film Commission, said the state pushed hard.
"Since the first one was filmed in Utah, we wanted to make sure we got the sequel, too," he said.

Salty Pictures applied for the state incentive long after Utah had exhausted the money in a fund designed to lure films to the state. But the movie stands to benefit Utah so much that the GOED temporarily "loaned" money to the film incentive fund from the Industrial Assistance Fund, typically used to provide cash incentives to lure new companies to the state.

GOED plans to "pay back" the corporate incentive fund after they receive money from the legislature next year.

The proposal to the governor's office states filming will take two months, and the film is budgeted at about $7 million. Up to 95 percent of the crew will be from Utah, according to the documents.

I don't know if you happened to watch High School Musical again over Thanksgiving but Disney Channel added the popup facts that were pretty interesting. Here are some of the ones I can remember:

The houses used for Gabriela and Troy in the movie were just a couple of houses apart.

Lucas' hats in the movie were bought at a cool clothing store in Utah.

The ski lodge used at the beginning is not a lodge but a nice building in Midway, Utah.

The opening scene is supposed to take place about midnight in the movie but was really filmed in the daytime.

There was no real snow outside during the filming because it was really August. The snow was made out of falling potato flakes.

Ms. Darbus' glasses were actually huge sunglasses but they replaced the lenses.

Zac Efron was born on October 18th in San Luis Obispo, California.

The stage used for the auditions was a different school.

The big Wildcats sign in the cafeteria is the same one you see the gym.

Vanessa's food was glued to her tray in the cafeteria dance scene.

They tried to find a skateboarder who played cello but couldn't find one.

The garden on top of the school was created for the movie. They used a crane to get the plants up there.

A big storm came right when Zac and Vanessa were filming and they had to run downstairs.

Gabriella's sweater didn't come with sparkles on it so the costume designer took it to a "sparkle expert" in Hollywood who adds sparkles to clothes for famous musicials, dancers, and ice skaters!

Lucas used 9 hats during the movie.

The large poster of Zac on the wall was only used for Vanessa's solo scene and then put away.

The first scene filmed was when Corbin and Monique are outside the school trying to to act like spies.

The last scene filmed was when Zac snuck up onto Vanessa's balcony and sang 'The Start of Something New' alone to her. She and Zac where the only 2 actors left and she started crying for real.

WOW!! High School Musical 2: Sing It All or Nothing! has been announced and will be released next summer!!! The plot will revolve around the original film's characters as they organize a talent show at the local golf and country club to which Sharpay, Ryan, and their family belong and where Troy has a summer job as a lifeguard. All of the original film's cast members will return, and there will be new music and choreography by director Kenny Ortega. A soundtrack CD will be released the week before the film airs.

A teaser trailer was released during The Cheetah Girls 2006 tour. The trailer showed scenes from the first film and the logo said High School Musical and a "2" appeared next to the word "Musical". The trailer was first made publically available on the DVD release of Wendy Wu.

Well what ive heard was that high school musical 2 is being filmed this fall and will come out late summer 2007. All of your same favorite actors are in the second movie. Now i know some people think that Zac Efron (Troy) is dating Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay) in real life but from what ive heard and read...they are just friends and nothing is going on between them. But maybe in the future they will. Who knows? Most of the High School Musical cast showed up at the teen choice awards 2006...High School Musical won for Choice TV Show: Comedy/Musical and for the 58th Annual Creative Arts event they won Outstanding Children's Program for "High School Musical"..Congratulation to all Hsm Cast!

Ok well as you probably know High School Musical is a very popular movie that was shown on the disney channel. Now i personally LOVED the movie. It's deffenetly in my top 5 favorites. Well if you havent seen it, you really have to...even if your not a kid you will love it. The movie is basically about a boy named Troy whos the popular captin of his basketball team and Gabriella whos very smart and beautiful and can also sing. Troy and Gabriella met on thier winter break and they were chosen to sing karaoke together and they ended up becoming friends and not knowing that Gabriella actully transferred to Troys school and they meet again in class. They both secretly audition for the schools musical without anyone knowing and then when callbacks come along...everyone seems to become who they really are. There are alot of great charecters in this movie and the movie sends a great message. Be sure to see it if you havent already!
